Privacy Policy

MaargaOS (“MaargaOS,” “we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how and why we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights and choices available to you when you use our website, applications, and browser extension (the “Service”).

This Policy applies to information we process as a data controller. By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described here. It should be read together with our Terms of Service.

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information — your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), and, if you sign in with Google, your Google account identifier and basic profile details.
• Profile & resume data — the professional information you provide or upload: work history, education, skills, links (LinkedIn, GitHub, portfolio), location, headline, and your resume documents.
• Application & activity data — jobs you save, applications you track, interview and coding-practice sessions, learning plans, chat/assistant conversations, and notes you create.
• Voice data — if you use voice interview features, short audio clips you record are processed to transcribe your speech; we do not retain raw audio beyond what is needed to return a transcript.
• Usage & device data — log data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps, used for security, debugging, and analytics.
• Payment information — if and when paid plans launch, payment details are handled by our third-party payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.

We use your information to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service and its features;
• Generate AI output personalized to you — tailored resumes, match scores, interview questions and feedback, and learning paths;
• Authenticate you, keep your account secure, and prevent fraud and abuse;
• Communicate with you about the Service, including important notices and, where you consent, product updates;
• Understand how the Service is used so we can improve it; and
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your resume or profile content to train third-party public AI models.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

• Performance of a contract — to provide the Service you have signed up for;
• Legitimate interests — to secure, maintain, and improve the Service, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights;
• Consent — for optional processing such as marketing communications or certain cookies, which you may withdraw at any time; and
• Legal obligation — where processing is required to comply with the law.

We share personal information only in the limited circumstances below:

• Service providers (sub-processors) — trusted vendors who process data on our behalf to run the Service (see the next section). They are bound by contract to protect your data and use it only for our purposes.
• AI model providers — to generate AI output, relevant text (e.g., your resume content or a job description) is sent to our AI providers under agreements that prohibit using your data to train their public models.
• Legal & safety — where required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of MaargaOS, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you and honor the commitments in this Policy.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We rely on the following categories of providers to operate the Service:

• Cloud hosting & database — for running the application and storing your data securely;
• Website hosting / CDN — for delivering the web application;
• AI providers — for language-model and speech-to-text features;
• Authentication — Google sign-in, if you choose to use it;
• Job-data sources — third-party job aggregators and public company career boards from which listings are retrieved.

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Backup copies are purged on our regular backup-rotation schedule.

We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including:

• Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS);
• Passwords stored only as salted hashes, never in plain text;
• Access controls that scope every user’s data to their own account; and
• Authenticated API access with short-lived tokens.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
• Delete your data (“right to be forgotten”);
• Port your data — receive a copy in a portable format;
• Restrict or object to certain processing;
• Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent; and
• Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — note that we do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined. To exercise any right, email support@maargaos.com; we may need to verify your identity before responding.

We use cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) that are strictly necessary to run the Service — for example, to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. Where required by law, any non-essential analytics or preference cookies are used only with your consent. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the Service from functioning.

MaargaOS operates using cloud infrastructure that may be located in different countries, including the United States and the European Union. When we transfer personal data across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses — to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection.

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (such as by email or an in-app message). We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
